dear louis - to me - for him.

It really is always good to hear your voice. Simply that.

[It represents the clarity of existence and history of someone who is equally intangible (to me) as important (to me).

And you perpetually call me, which unfortunately is the only way (to me). And you don’t ask how my life is because we both know i’ll always be better off in the two ambiguous contexts of our two separate lives: I don’t live in your world, you seem content.

And (to me) your culture is embedded with a certain mental clarity about life which i had for such a short time and some people are never lucky enough to experience, and which returns (to me) for a split second when i hear you: strength from completion sans/beyond materials. You and your family have expressed kind acceptance (to me) — a total stranger — based soley on the fact that i helped you and your family’s relative when he had no-one (though he really had everyone). And though, some of them may not have the best intentions (for him), i am watching and guarding (for him).

You recognize the strength in truth, and you are used to expecting it. And you call me at the perfect time, when i’m weak enough to believe it should have been me, and weak enough to believe i could have done more, and weak enough to believe i’m a coward for not talking to you sometimes because i’m sad about you and your family’s relative and how painful it was (for him).

And you say (to me) how it is. And you laugh because i say i’m just ok today. And you say (to me) today (for him) the sky is blue and you don’t know why but isn’t it beautiful? And even the sky never remains the same. And you will go crazy questioning things that just are. It will never appear the same (to me) as it was that day (for him). And it means a lot (to me) that you call (for him).]
